Beaded Sun-Catcher

Make your own:

  1. Let kids explore outdoors to find the perfect stick—look for one that’s sturdy, around 10–12 inches long, and full of personality (curvy shapes are great!)

  2. Cut 5–7 strands of hemp about 12–18 inches long. (Tip: Varying the lengths gives a more whimsical look!)
  3. Thread translucent beads onto each strand. Mix in any other fun materials—pom-poms, buttons, feathers, or even small bells. Leave a few inches at the top for tying.
  4. Once a strand is finished, tie it tightly around the stick. Repeat until your stick has at least 5 beautiful dangling strands.
  5. Cut another piece of hemp and tie each end to either side of your stick to make a loop. This will be how you hang your masterpiece!
  6. Hang in front of a sunny window and watch the light sparkle through the beads! It’s a mini stained-glass effect made by your little artist.
  7. Voila!
