Paper Pinwheel
Make your own:
- Decorate Your Paper (Optional but Fun!)
- Take your square paper and decorate it however you like!
- Use crayons, markers, stickers—anything!
- This will be the fun design of your pinwheel.
- Fold the Paper Diagonally
- Fold your paper corner to corner to make a triangle.
- Open it back up.
- Fold the other corner to corner and open again.
👉 Now you should see an “X” made by the folds.
- Cut Along the Folds
- Carefully cut along each fold, but STOP about 1 inch from the center.
- You’ll have four flaps that almost reach the middle.
- Make Holes
- Poke a small hole in the center of the paper (where the folds cross).
- Now, pick one corner from each flap (the same side on each one), and poke a small hole in each of those 4 corners.
👉 Grown-up help may be needed here!
- Fold the Corners In
- Gently take each corner with a hole (just one corner from each flap!)
- Bring them all to the middle where the center hole is.
- Hold them together with your fingers.
- Add the Fastener
- Push the paper fastener through all the holes you’re holding in the center.
- Then, push it through the center hole of the paper too.
- Next, poke the fastener through the top of the paper straw (make a little hole in the straw first).
- Open the fastener tabs behind the straw to keep it in place.
- You’re Done!
- Hold your pinwheel in front of a fan, blow on it or take it outside on a windy day!
🎉 Watch it spin!
